SJCS Meals on Wheels celebrates 40 years of giving back

St. Joseph Community Services (SJCS) Meals on Wheels commemorated 40 years of service to Hillsborough County communities. One hundred twenty five guests celebrated recently at their Carpenter Center in Manchester. Community diner, Helen, who recently turned 101, danced the night away to the rhythm and sound of the Tall Granite Combo.

This achievement has been reached because of the passion, commitment and service of so many. SJCS has served over 12 million meals since its founding in 1970. Today, 12 board of directors, 75 staff members, nearly 500 volunteers and hundreds of generous donors, funders and community partners make it possible for SJCS Meals on Wheels to deliver 1,450 meals daily.

John Getts, president and CEO of Home Health and Hospice in Merrimack, serves as chairman of the board for SJCS Meals on Wheels.

“We are grateful to our dedicated team of staff and volunteers who are committed to reducing isolation and hunger for homebound older and disabled adults,” said Getts. “Because of our community support, SJCS Meals on Wheels remains strong and able to respond to daily requests for services. We remain committed to responding to this ever-

increasing need and not turn anyone away who qualifies for meal delivery.”
