Milford man arrested by Hollis police after Halloween chase
AMHERST – A police chase on Halloween ended with an accident and the arrest of a Milford man.
The incident started shortly before noon near Hayden Road in Hollis on Oct. 31 when a pickup truck driven by Ira Weeks, 33, failed to stop for a Hollis officer who noticed a sticker violation.
According to Hollis Police Lt. Richard Mello, Weeks fled north on Route 122 at a high rate of speed and turned right onto Route 101A, heading east until his truck collided with another vehicle near the Lowe’s and Bed, Bath and Beyond stores.
Amherst police say the truck hit a car driven by Dorothy Dishong, 81, of Amherst, shortly before 11:38 a.m.
Weeks was transported to a medical facility for treatment of injuries.
Mello said Weeks was charged with reckless operation, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving after suspension, disobeying a police officer, as well as an inspection violation. He is scheduled for a hearing in Milford district court on Jan. 9, 2014.
