Lyndeborough Christmas tree lighting held

LYNDEBOROUGH – On Sunday afternoon, a couple dozen small children used Fire Chief Rick McQuade’s radio to call Santa Claus to the Christmas tree on the common.

At the third call, they were answered by a blast of the fire truck horn and Santa (as portrayed by resident Walter Holland) arrived with his bag of goodies.

The tree, set up by the Fire Department, was lit by residents Bruce and Hazel Hadley.

After talking with the children around the little tree, Santa and residents walked to the Tarbell Library for refreshments.

Bruce Hadley grew up on Baldwin Hill in Lyndeborough, attended the Perham Corner School. He worked for many years for the Whiting Dairy in Wilton. Hazel grew up in Milford. The two met at a carnival where Bruce was a ride operator. They were married in 1960.
