Wilton tax rate reflects needed repairs

WILTON – The tax rate has gone up 65 cents, for a new assessment rate of $26.02 per $1,000 of assessed value.

Town officials note that the municipal rate of $7.07, is a reduction of 43 cents from last year’s $7.50, due to careful budgeting and spending.

The largest increase is in the local school rate, $15.39 this year, up from $14.31 last year.

The rise is due mostly to needed repairs and maintenance, plus a rise in health insurance.

State school funding and the county tax are essentially flat, with the state rate rising 2 cents to $2.43, and the county rate going down 2 cents to $1.13.

Tax bills have been mailed and are due by the end of the month.
