Three-car crash in Wilton sends 3 to area hospitals
WILTON – Twice in two weeks a car crossed over the center line in Wilton and hit two vehicles.
The latest accident happened on Friday, Jan. 10, when a GMC pickup operated by Daniel J. Garnham, 34, of Temple, was traveling west on Route 101 near Russell Hill Road when the truck crossed over, striking two eastbound vehicles – a 2011 Ford Escape driven by Douglas Lear, 55, of Merrimack, and a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander operated by Temple Ireland, 42, of Brookline.
All three drivers were injured, and police said Garnham was seriously injured. On Monday, Jan. 13, Sheila Caron, spokeswoman at St. Joseph Hospital, said Garnham is in stable condition and improving.
Lear was also transported to St. Joseph for further treatment, said police, and Ireland was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
The road was closed for about two hours, and the accident is being investigated by Lt. Eric Olesen.
On Dec. 30, a Milford woman was airlifted to Worcester, Mass., after the car she was driving crossed over the center line on Route 31 South near Davidson Road and struck two other vehicles.
Cindy April, 27, was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center. The hospital’s media office did not return calls and an email seeking April’s condition.
Six other people were injured in that crash.
