Antique glass globe is on display at the J.A. Tarbell Library in Lyndeborough

LYNDEBOROUGH – Last September, former resident Beverly Sherman Shea presented the Historical Society with a Lyndeborough hand-blown glass globe she believes was made at the Lyndeborough Glass Factory sometime between 1868 and 1888 by a member of the Ross family.

She inherited the globe from her aunt, Edith Ross, and decided that it “should return to the town.”

The globe was stored until a proper display case could be made. Recently, woodworker Ed Mottau and glass artist Cory Cheever collaborated on a case, which now the globe on display at the J.A. Tarbell Library.

The residents donated their work to the town. The gift will be formally acknowledged by the Board of Selectmen at a ceremony after Town Meeting.
