Eighth-grader wins Amherst Middle School Geography Bee

AMHERST – Amherst Middle School held its annual Geography Bee finals for grades 5-8 in early January.

Thirty students from the four grades earned strong enough scores to move to the schoolwide finals.

After more than six rounds of questions and a tiebreaker, eighth-grader Sean Corrigan was declared the winner. Eighth-grader Hannah Parrott, the AMS champion last year, was the runner-up.

To proceed to the state competition, Sean took a written exam, which was submitted to the state. If his score is high enough, he will be invited to attend the statewide competition in March.
