Nashua police investigate mysterious device in Amherst, but no problem found

AMHERST – Amherst firefighters called in help from Nashua after discovering a potentially dangerous device near a business on Thursday night.

The Nashua Hazardous Device Unit was called to the business around 8 p.m., Feb. 6, after police and fire officials in Amherst were alerted to an item that was about 6 inches long, heavily taped and emitting a sound, police said.

The item was found in a dumpster. The Hazardous Device Unit determined it had no explosive content and that it was most likely an anti-theft device that had been disposed of improperly, police said.
