Wilton-Lyndeborough Co-op meeting vote on school addition bond

WILTON – The annual meeting of the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative School District will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, in the high school cafeteria.

The district is traditional and residents have to be present in order to vote.

At issue is a bond for $8,250,000 for a new addition to Florence Rideout Elementary School to house all the district students in grades 1-5, plus renovations of Lyndeborough Central School into a kindergarten/pre-kindergarten space, plus new quarters for the Supervisory Union offices.

Voting will be paper ballot and a two-thirds majority is required. The polls will be open for an hour.

In order to do the above work, the Articles of Agreement between the two towns must be changed to allow Lyndeborough students to go to Wilton. This is also by secret ballot and a two-thirds majority is required.

If the above articles do not pass, voters will be asked to spend $250,000 for immediate repairs to Florence Rideout.

Also on the ballot are the operating budget of $11,550,114, and a new three-year contract with the teachers. The first year of the contract includes an increase of $105,151.
