Milford roads getting spring cleaning

MILFORD – It’s good to see the snow melt, but what lies underneath is sometimes not so good.

To clean up the unsightly trash and sand, the Milford Department of Public Works has started its overnight street sweeping program. It continues until Nov. 1.

That means residents must keep their vehicles off the downtown streets on Thursdays and Fridays between 2:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The work begins at the intersection of School Street and Nashua Street and continues west to Centennial Park; from the intersection of Union Street and Union Square – southwest to the corner of Garden Street.

Then it continues from the intersection of South Street and High Street – north to the Stone Bridge; from the Stone Bridge – southwest to the intersection of Union Square and Union Street; from the intersection of Union Square and Bridge Street and east to the intersection of Bridge Street and School Street; from the intersection of Union Square and Middle Street east to the intersection of Middle Street and School Street; from the intersection of Nashua Street and School Street – north to the intersection of School Street and Bridge Street; and all parking spaces around and abutting the Oval.

Any vehicles in violation of the town ordinance may be towed without notice to the owner and at the owner’s expense.
