Selectmen praise Amherst hockey champs

AMHERST – The Souhegan boys’ hockey team’s Division III state championship was a “momentous achievement, Tom Grella told the team at the Board of Selectmen’s May 27 meeting.

The Sabers won the title displaying “exceptional sportsmanship, skill” and teamwork, the selectman said, reading the board’s proclamation, which named May 27 the team’s recognition day.

Souhegan boys’ victory came March 15 at a game against John Stark-Hopkinton, winning 5-4, in a season that saw them win 18 of their 20 games.
