Unique plant sale scheduled for Saturday in Temple

TEMPLE – The Temple Historical Society will hold an unusual plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 14, at the home of Anne Lunt at 204 East Road.

Bring your own tools and containers and dig up the plants you want. Prices vary from $5 to $35, discount for three or more plants, check or cash only, no credit cards. Proceeds will benefit the society’s Priscilla Weston Capital Fund.

Plants available include Jacob’s ladder, common and Japanese iris, hosta, centauria, geraniums, Stella d’oro and other day lilies, Soloman’s seal, Canada anemone, and epimedium.

All plants are healthy, organically grown and well established.

A number of shrubs have been dug and are ready to go, including forsythia, cimicifuga, double viburnum, blueberry bush, fothergilla and Korean lilac. Elijah blue fescus and miscanthus are ready to be dug and divided.

Lund is also looking for a few plants for herself and will trade for white trillium, white bleeding heart or pink creeping phlox.

Gardeners unable to attend may make an appointment by contacting Lund at auksnest@aol.com or calling 878-3443.
