Wilton’s Jean Vincent reaches 90 years

WILTON – Jean Vincent has reached 90 years and is the oldest member of Second Unitarian Congregational Society in Wilton Center. Her church, her many friends and relations gathered at the Red House for a celebration on May 17.

She is also the oldest graduate of the former Wilton High School, but only by a few months since there are two other members of the Class of 1942.

She was born in Wilton, a member of one of the earliest families in town, attended the one-room school in Wilton Center, and has lived much of her life in town.

“I lived for a while in Nashua and then New Ipswich,” she said.

“I didn’t think about reaching this far,” Vincent said at the church’s monthly supper on May 16.

The sun came out in time for the party so attendees could enjoy the Red House grounds, but she held court inside surrounded by her children, David Vincent and Shirley Curtis, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
