Mont Vernon man charged with reckless conduct
MONT VERNON – A Mont Vernon man was arrested Sunday after police said he was causing a disturbance on Beech Hill Road.
Mont Vernon Police responded to the area near 119 Beach Hill Road around 9 p.m. on July 20 after receiving a report that a man was drinking alcohol and discharging a firearm.
Police say they contacted Stephen D. Smith, 67, of 119 Beech Hill Road by using a police cruiser’s public address system, and then Smith voluntarily put down the firearm and was taken in to custody in the driveway.
Smith was charged with criminal threatening and reckless conduct, both class B felonies, and arraigned at the 9th Circuit Court- Merrimack.
Smith was transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in lieu of $5,000 bail and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on July 31 in 9th Circuit Court-Milford.
Four firearms were recovered from the residence, police said.
