Wilton Lions offering free vision screening

The Wilton Lions Club plans to offer a free vision screening for children (and anyone else who would like to do it) during the Wilton Old Home Days celebration next week.

The Lions will offer the screenings on Saturday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 23. The Lions can be found in a tent on the flat during the Old Home Days week.

The mission of Lions International is to eliminate blindness worldwide. The screening device used works in less than a minute, is completely pain-free and the subject does not need to be touched. It can detect several eye conditions, some of them very serious that could lead to blindness, as well as near- and far-
sightedness in young children.

It is important to catch these conditions early, as the child’s sight can often be saved with early intervention.

In the tent, the familiar Lions popcorn will be available, as well as bottled water and more.

In addition there will be a guessing game, called JACKPOT. Guess the number of chips in the jar and win $50. Chances are $1 each.

Raffle tickets for the annual Penny Sale raffle will be for sale. This year, the prize is an XBOX ONE, with Kinect and a game, valued at $500.

The drawing will be held at the Penny Sale in October. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.
