Open house at Wadleigh library

MILFORD – This Sunday the Wadleigh Memorial Library trustees will hold an open house to inform residents about a planned $5 million expansion and renovation.

Residents are invited to join a tour of the library from 3-5 p.m. on Oct. 26.

Features of the new library would include a technology/business center for residents and business owners to use, and learn to use, new media and technology, a larger children’s department, a much larger area for teenagers, a 125-seat meeting room and several quiet study rooms.

The current building was built in 1950 and expanded in 1986 when it was expected to last 20 years.

A library expansion plan was first submitted to the town’s Capital Improvement Plan committee in 1995 and nearly every year since 1998.

Residents at the open house can talk to the project’s architect and view drawings and floor plans.
