Wilfork to help Souhegan Valley Chamber raise money for NH veterans
AMHERST – For the last seven years, the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce has held a benefit auction to raise awareness of the crisis facing many of our veterans, as well as to raise funds for worthy organizations that provide relief and assistance.
Since 2007, the SVCC has raised nearly $100,000 for veterans.
This year, the chamber is partnering with a Patriot on the football field – Vince Wilfork, of the New England Patriots – to raise funds for our nation’s patriots. The chamber and Wilfork will present Vince for Vets, their eighth annual benefit auction, on Friday, April 10, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua.
The event raises funds for the Chaplain Emergency Relief Fund, which provides New Hampshire military families with emergency needs primarily in the areas of rent, mortgage, utilities and medical bills.
Funds are used to help families of deployed military personnel while their loved ones are serving their country or veterans who need assistance upon returning from deployment.
Money for the fund comes from individual and corporate contributions. The fund is managed by volunteer trustees, all of whom are New Hampshire Army or Air National Guard chaplains.
All of the money received as donations goes directly toward emergency assistance – no portion of donations or funds raised go to administrative costs, and all funds stay in-state to help New Hampshire families.
Wilfork, a defensive tackle and captain for the Patriots, has been committed to raising funds for worthy causes since beginning his pro football career. He is a well-respected and beloved statesman of Patriots Nation, being named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro from 2009-12.
The event will feature a meet and greet at which 100 ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet Wilfork and receive an autographed photograph and gift bag featuring sponsor promotional items. Afterward, there will be a VIP reception with Wilfork. Attendees may mingle and take photos with Wilfork, as well as hear him speak about his experiences playing in the NFL, and participate in a question-and-answer session with Wilfork.
A live auction of football memorabilia signed live by Wilfork will cap off the evening.
