Milford man charged in bank robbery

A Milford man was reportedly arrested in Massachusetts after allegedly robbing a Citizens Bank location inside the Shaw’s Supermarket in Stratham on Feb. 24.

Seamus Murphy, 32, of Milford, was arrested on Feb. 25, 2015, and charged with felony robbery.

According to police, a man walked into the remote banking location inside the grocery store at around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, passed a note to a clerk demanding money and made a threat about a weapon, and then, left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Stratham Police posted an alert for the man on its Facebook site a few hours later, including pictures from the bank, and working in conjunction with the Epping Police and the FBI, began to put together a case against Murphy, according to Stratham Police Chief John Scippa.

A warrant was taken out for Murphy’s arrest and police learned that he might be in the Lowell or Tewksbury, Mass. area. Tewksbury Police began checking the area and learned that Murphy had rented a room at the Motel 6 on Main Street, according to The Lowell Sun. Police and a SWAT team were called to the scene and arrested him.
