Gathering to remember school that’s closing

LYNDEBOROUGH – On Sunday, June 14, 5 to 7 p.m., The Central School History Committee will hold an Alumni Event and Picture Day for people to gather one last time at the school which will close on June 10.

Beginning in September, grades one through five will be attending Florence Rideout School in Wilton and the Central School will house kindergarten and pre-kindergarten.

Everyone who attended the school, which opened in 1949, is invited to come, share memories, and have some refreshments. Pictures will be taken beginning at 6 p.m.

The committee is preparing a history book which will be available next year. It will also contain memories of the one-room schools which preceded the Central School.

Alumni are invited to submit memories – handwritten or electronically, as well as pictures and other mementoes which will be copied or scanned for inclusion in the book.

Wanted are class pictures, school photos, personal pictures, and lists of names of classes.

For information or to submit items, contact Nadine Preftakes at lyndeboroughcentralmemories@gmail.com, or npreftakes@tds.net.

Wilton memories are also welcome and will be included that history.
