Getting to know one another … and eat, too

WILTON – For the past year, students at Florence Rideout Elementary and Lyndeborough Central School have been combining activities such as field trips so they can get to know each other. In September the schools will be combined in Wilton,

On May 21, the schools held a combined family picnic on The Flat, the play area at Florence Rideout.

Principal Tim O’Connell grilled hamburgers assisted by Lyndeborough Food Service Director Donna Garnham. The meal of salads, chips, and watermelon was served by other food service personnel and education aides. Students sat on blankets spread across the grass.

Following the picnic, students were entertained by the trio “Joey, Steve and Marty,” with “Marty” being artist-author Marty Kelley, who once taught at both FRES and LCS.

The trio told stories and led the students in exuberant sing-a-longs. The program was sponsored by the Wilton Public-Gregg Free Library as an introduction, and an invitation, to the library’s summer reading program.

This year’s theme is Su0per Heroes.

Lyndeborough students can now sign up for Wilton library cards.
