Cemetery expansion wrapping up
LYNDEBOROUGH – Clear cutting of a couple of acres behind the eastern end of the South Cemetery is nearing completion. The work is being done by R. Lemire and Sons Logging of Antrim. All brush is being chipped and hauled away leaving a clean site.
Cemetery Trustees have said the clear cut, plus selective cutting of the rest of the 10-acre tract, will pay for future cemetery work. It will take several years to make the area into a landscaped cemetery and by then will be needed for burials.
The South Yard is the oldest cemetery in town with graves dating to before the Revolutionary War.
