WILTON – A not too chilly evening, Santa Claus, and a promise of candy canes and hand-pulled taffy drew well over 100 children, plus their parents, to Main Street just after dark on Thursday, Dec. 3.
Santa began the evening with a dramatic reading – assisted by the children – of "A Visit From St. Nicholas" in the park on Main Street. He then lit the town tree and moved next door to Nelson’s Candies, where pictures could be taken in comfort.
And where all of the candy was available.
Most of the stores on Main Street were open to offer special sales, and coffee at the newly opened Local Shares. A raffle card, validated by visits to many of the stores, was entered into a drawing for prizes.
The mood was festive, with old friends and neighbors getting together – and who doesn’t like a candy cane?
