4 arrested on drug charges

MILFORD – Four Milford residents are being held on high cash bail on charges related to drug possession and distribution, police said.

Bearing arrest warrants, a team of law enforcement officers from Milford, Amherst, Pelham, Hillsborough and a county task force descended on 19 Union St., Apt. 6, around noon March 16 as part of their investigation into the sale of fentanyl in the area, police said. All four defendants were arraigned on March 17 and returned to jail. They will be back in Milford district court for a probable cause hearing on Wednesday, March 30. Arrested were:

? Alberto Escarza, 40, 19 Union St. Charged with one count each of sale of a controlled drug, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and common nuisance. Bail set at $100,000 cash.

? Melissa Babian, 36, 19 Union St. Charged with one count each of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, breach of bail and common nuisance. Bail set at $50,000 cash.

? Joy Schofield, 37, 19 Union St. Charged with one count each of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, breach of bail and common nuisance. Bail set at $50,000 cash.

? Theresa Lindley, 48, 128 Savage Road. Charged with one count each of possession of a controlled drug and breach of bail. Bail set at $50,000 cash.
