Taste of the town
Annual event set for June 3 on the Oval
MILFORD – The fourth annual Taste of Milford will take place on and around the Milford Oval from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 3.
"It has grown from a relatively small event to a highly anticipated ‘kickoff to summer’ event," said Wendy Hunt, executive director of the Milford Improvement Team. "People start calling me in March wanting to know the date and when they can buy tickets."
Last year, kids prices were added, which increased family attendance, Hunt said.
"That’s not to say that there isn’t wonderful cuisine for those with a more sophisticated palate, as well," she said. "It’s why we have also grown to about 30 food participants" appealing to all ages.
Attendees stroll around the historic Milford Oval shops, restaurants and Town Hall, tasting some of the best entrees, desserts, appetizers and more from more than 30 "culinary enthusiasts," as Hunt calls them – Milford area restaurants, shops, caterers, Milford High School’s culinary program and area "home food businesses."
From the Mediterranean to New England to burgers, desserts, gourmet teas and coffees, and everything in between, attendees won’t walk away hungry.
There also will be live music throughout the evening. When Taste attendees arrive, they’ll check in on the Oval and receive their event bracelets, program, map and ballot to vote for Best Entree, Best Dessert, Best Presentation and new this year, Best Appetizer and Best Beverage. Advance tickets are $25 for ages 13 and older and $12 for ages 5-12. At the event, if it isn’t sold out, tickets will be $30 for adults and $15 for children. The event will be held rain or shine.
