Finan named Citizen of Year

MILFORD – David Palance must have been slightly out of breath as he finished naming all of the boards and committees on which Tim Finan has served.

Palance is president of the Milford Historical Society. The society and the Milford Improvement Team named Finan Milford’s Citizen of the Year for 2016 during a ceremony Friday night at the Pumpkin Festival.

Finan was recognized for all of his "less glamorous work that represents a significant contribution of time," Palance said.

Finan, a network consulting engineer, has served on the Board of Selectmen and the town Budget Committee. He is a member of the Planning Board, the Granite Town Media Committee, the Capital Improvement Plan Advisory Committee and the Milford Rotary Club. He has been a youth sports coach and umpire and a Destination Imagination team manager.

Finan has served on the Local Education Improvement Plan Committee, Recreation Commission and Brox Community Lands Master Plan Committee.

"I just really enjoy being involved," Finan said later in an email "It is a good way to keep up with what’s happening in Milford, and it is a great way to meet other people in town.

"It does seem like a lot, but this has been over an almost 20-year period, so it is not quite as busy as it seems."
