MILFORD – Last year, the Taste of Milford sold out, with 750 people showing up to sample food and drink from more than 25 local chefs, bakers, caterers, candymakers and baristas.

That’s why organizer Wendy Hunt advises people to buy their tickets early for the Friday, May 19, event.

From 6-8:30 that evening, Town Hall and shops in and around the Oval will be transformed into a big party.

This will be the eighth annual Taste of Milford, coordinated by Hunt’s Milford Improvement Team, which will be helped by dozens of volunteers.

More than two dozen restaurants, caterers and home businesses will be there offering samples of their food and drinks.

Businesses that don’t have space on the Oval will be hosted by other non-food businesses. Nelson’s Candies, of Wilton, for example, will be at Flip Home Decor, 139 Union Square. A new business called Vendura will have Meghan Lydon offering her homemade appetizers, one with tempeh and one with homemade ricotta cheese, at Forever Yoga on Middle Street.

Another new business that will join the event is Scoop’s ice cream, handing out desserts at 20 South St.

Live music will be at three locations. Marlena Phillips, the DoubleNecks Guitar Duo and, Rich Kumpu and Bobby Allwarden will add to the party atmosphere.

Buying tickets in advance also saves money. Advance tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for kids. If tickets are available at the door, they’ll be $30 for adults and $15 for kids.

Adult tickets are for ages 13 and older, and kids tickets are for ages 5-12. There is no charge for children 4 and younger. Ticket holders will have a chance to vote for the best entree, appetizer, dessert, beverage and presentation. For information, visit www.milfordimprovementteam.org.
