Wilton kids learn to tie dye

WILTON – Children’s Librarian Stephanie Loiselle warned the gathered participants, “We don’t want any paint on the building, and we wouldn’t like any on the rocks, but otherwise, go to it.”

What the dozen or so participants gathered in the library’s new courtyard did was tie dye shirts and other items of cotton clothing. They “scrunched” the item into a ball, fastened it with several rubber bands, and then squirted on a variety of colors. They then received directions on how to set the colors.

They were not deterred by a brief shower.

The event was part of Loiselle’s summer program.
