Greenfield man seriously injured in Lyndeborough car crash

LYNDEBOROUGH – An elderly Greenfield man was airlifted to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, Monday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on Route 31.

Arthur Ducharme, 79, was driving a 2016 Kia north on Route 31, near the intersection with Buck Road, when witnesses say the car drifted over the center line into the southbound lane, went off the road and struck a tree.

Lyndeborough police, fire and Wilton ambulance personnel responded at 1:32 p.m. Ducharme was alone in the vehicle and treated at the scene for multiple injuries, then transported to the hill behind Citizens Hall in Lyndeborough to meet with a DART helicopter.

Greenfield police assisted at the crash scene. Lyndeborough Police Chief Rainsford Deware said the accident is still under investigation.
