FIRST team places at world event

Hollis/Brookline High School’s FIRST Robotics Team 1073, The Force Team, battled its way to the semifinals at the FIRST Robotics World Championship held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta from April 15-17.

The team was in an alliance with Team 1922, OzRam, from Weare, and Team 102, the Gearheads, from Somerville, N.J.

In the Newton Division (one of four divisions each composed of approximately 85 teams), Team 1073 tied, tied again, lost by one point (12-13) and sustained a second loss by one point (13-14). The team tied for third place out of 86 teams and 15th place out of all 344 teams.

The winner of the Newton Division went on to win the overall Championship.

The team would like to congratulate its Granite State Regional alliance members, Team 1519, Mechanical Mayhem, based in Milford, and Team 1058, PVC Pirates, from Londonderry High School, on their achievements at the Atlanta Championship, placing in the quarterfinals in their respective divisions.
