Hollis Woman’s Club offers seminars
The Hollis Woman’s Club will host a free series of investment seminars, given by Shelly Gillis, AAMS, a finance advisor with Edward Jones.
The Investment Workshops are open to all and will be held Monday evenings at the Hollis Social Library Community Room from 6:30-8:30 p.m., except on nights where school was closed due to weather.
Jan. 16 – Take Stock in the Market: We will cover the basic structure of the stock market and the three key principles to stock investing. We will discuss how stocks are traded and how dividends work.
Jan. 23 – Focus on Fixed Income: A discussion on the basics of bonds. How do they work? Why own bonds? Who should own bonds and how? An introduction to the different types of bonds.
Jan. 30 – Start Smart with Mutual Funds: An introduction to mutual funds, what they are (and aren’t), how they work, and how to select an appropriate fund.
Feb. 6 – Making Sense of Retirement: We will discuss strategies for retirement to include setting goals, risk assessment, tax deferral, the different types of IRAs available and how to create retirement income.
Feb. 13 – Protecting What’s Important: A discussion on long-term care and estate planning basics, as well as an introduction to wealth transfer planning and managing estate taxes. We will include a discussion on New Hampshire’s recent change to partnership status for long-term care.
