Amherst Villagers receive mini-course from rug company owner
BROOKLINE – Sean Taheri, owner of Caspian Rugs on Route 13 recently welcomed the Amherst Villagers to his newly remodeled shop for a mini-course in Oriental rugs – which really are more Persian than Oriental.
Handmade Persian rugs can take a year to make. If they’re made in a village, each rug will show a story and design from that family. If they’re made in a city, much of the individuality of a family will have disappeared.
Persian rugs are made in a variety of countries, such as Iran, India and Turkey. Traditionally, Chinese rugs were made differently from the Oriental rugs known today, but because of demand, even China is making Persian rugs.
