Annual local business event changes to Saturday to attract more attendees

MILFORD – There will be something for everyone at the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Southern New Hampshire Expo this year.

And this year, it’s happening on a day when nearly everyone can go.

The expo will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Hampshire Dome.

After many years of holding the event on a Thursday, the chamber decided to move it to a Saturday so that more people could attend what has become New Hampshire’s largest business exposition, attracting about 3,500 people last year.

That record is expected to be broken this year.

There will be 174 vendors in 200 booths, including several food and restaurant booths, which will serve samples.

For children, there will be a Kidz Zone, offering a bounce house, face painting and many other activities.

After the serious accident at a Nashua bounce house last weekend, parents will be glad to know that the expo’s bounce house will be inside, tethered and inspected for safety by the Milford Fire Department and town building inspectors, chamber Director Tracy Hutchins said.

Throughout the day, there also will be entertainment performed by the Mad Scientist, the Riverbend Youth Theater, the West Street Beat and Rhythmic Revolutions.

Vouli Dance of Amherst will perform “The Nutcracker.”

A fashion show at 11:30 a.m. will feature clothes and accessories from Pastiche Boutique in Milford, Saks Off 5th from the Merrimack Outlets and Darlene’s Boutique in Salzburg Square in Amherst.

The expo, coordinated by the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce, is sponsored by the Bank of New Hampshire, The Cabinet Press, Charles Schwab, Crotched Mountain Ski Resort and the Triangle Credit Union.
