Hollis Primary School to hold registration for kindergarten, first grade

HOLLIS – Hollis Primary School will hold a registration session from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, for incoming 2015-16 kindergarten and first-grade students.

Children must be 5 by Sept. 30, 2015, to be eligible for kindergarten and 6 by Sept. 30, 2015, for first grade.

Kindergarten sessions run from 8:23-11:15 a.m. for the morning session and 12:05-3:05 p.m. for the afternoon session. During registration, you will have a chance to indicate your preference for the morning or afternoon session.

Bus service is provided for morning students for 8:15 a.m. arrival and for afternoon students at the 3:05 p.m. dismissal.

There is also an extended day kindergarten session. All kindergarten students will be screened in the spring to determine whether they qualify for attendance in this class.

Students placed in the extended day program will attend that class from 8:23 a.m.-12:05 p.m. and remain at Hollis Primary School for an afternoon session of kindergarten.

Here are registration procedures:

The office will begin handing out numbers at 4 p.m., but will not begin to register students for kindergarten and first grade until 4:30 p.m. Preference in the morning or afternoon kindergarten sessions will be granted based on the number order of completed registration packets received.

Be aware that some parents form a line earlier than 4 p.m. if they have a strong preference for either session.

All registration forms will be available at www.sau41.org/forms/SAU41_NewStudentPacket.pdf and in the Hollis Primary School office beginning Friday, Jan. 9, for kindergartners and first-grade students not currently attending the school. To help in the registration process, all registration forms should be completed prior to registration night.

Registration can’t be completed unless you bring these documents: Official birth certificate with raised seal or a passport (the school will make a copy) and two proofs of Hollis residency. See details on registration forms.

The physical exam form included in the registration forms must be completed by your child’s pediatrician prior to the first day of school. All new students must have a physical within a year to their date of entry.

The snow date is Thursday, Jan. 15.

Informational evenings about kindergarten and first-grade programs will be held in the spring on a date to be announced.
