Brookline students enjoy Pioneer Days
BROOKLINE – The second-grade students at Richard Maghakian Memorial School recently took part in an enrichment program aligned with the social studies curriculum known as Pioneer Days.
The hands-on program originated in Portland, Ore., and travels the country with host Terry Hess.
The students were able to experience life as pioneers on Friday, March 6, through their interaction with materials from long ago. Centers included wooden toys, corn grinding, rolling dough, carding wool and panning for gold.
Popular this year was the old-fashioned shaving center.
The event was made possible by the Brookline PTO.
