Hollis, Brookline students graduate from Lawrence Academy
GROTON, Mass. – Five Greater Nashua students were among the 104 who graduated from Lawrence Academy during the school’s 222nd graduation ceremony on Friday, May 29.
Shelby Kuchta, of Hollis, a member of the Cum Laude Society for academic excellence, also played varsity field hockey, hockey and lacrosse. She will attend Bates College, where she will play lacrosse for the Bobcats.
Catherine Morgan, of Hollis, frequently appeared on the academic honor and high honor rolls. She played two years of varsity volleyball and was enrolled in an independent study of visual arts. She will attend American University.
Nicholas Schutz, of Brookline, a member of the Cum Laude Society for academic excellence, served during his senior year as president of the student body. He earned recognition as a four-year member of the football and track teams. A three-year captain and two-time MVP of the track team, he received ISL honorable mention as a sophomore and All-ISL each of the following seasons. He earned ISL honorable mention as a junior on the Spartans football team that went on to earn the ISL and NEPSAC championships in 2014. He will attend Columbia University, where he will compete in track and field.
Jared Bernson, of Nashua, was a member of the Cum Laude Society for academic excellence and served as a proctor in his dormitory. He will attend Bentley University.
Timothy Preston, of Nashua, frequently appeared on the academic honor rolls during his two-year career and was recognized by the ISL each fall and winter for his performance on the football and basketball teams, earning honorable mention as a junior and All-ISL as a senior captain of each team. His Spartans football team took the 2014 ISL and NEPSAC championships, and earned him All-NEPSAC honors and his team’s Mark F. Frattaroli Award.
At the graduation ceremonies, he was presented with the Raymond A. Ilg Jr. Award for outstanding qualities of sportsmanship, leadership and achievement in athletics. He will attend Tufts University, where he will play football for the Jumbos.
