Art sought for gallery’s exhibit
HOLLIS – Wild Salamander Creative Arts Center’s Whitty Gallery is seeking art for its new show, "Defined."
The show will create a tribute to visual interpretation of the human language.
Artists are asked to select a word that inspires them beyond the literal. Each piece of artwork will be displayed next to the word that sparked its creation. The gallery walls will become a dictionary, of sorts, spanning cultures and geography to visually define human communication.
The gallery is seeking original art, size 30 inches and lower, including frame. All media are eligible, including textiles and hanging sculpture. All artwork must be wired to hang on the wall.
Artists may submit one piece for $5, and it will be subject to jurying by the gallery manager. New art is preferred.
Drop-off dates for artwork are Saturday, Sept. 5, and Tuesday, Sept. 8, or by appointment.
An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. The show will run through Sunday, Nov. 1.
