RISE fall courses set to begin on Sept. 8

NASHUA – The Rivier Institute for Senior Education fall information session is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in the reception room of the Dion Center at Rivier University, located on Clement Street off South Main Street.

Seniors can chose from more than 60 five- or 10-week courses with two start dates. The first term runs Sept. 8-Oct. 9, and the second runs Oct. 19-Nov. 20. There are no learning prerequisites or tests. The courses include use of computer labs, the Muldoon Health and Fitness Center, the Regina Library and Dion Dining Hall.

Members may participate in up to five courses each term. Course topics include literature, history, music, art, computer science, digital photography, religion, philosophy, science, spiritual enrichment, writing, world cultures, current events and bridge.

Twenty-six of the courses are new for the fall. None are credit bearing.

Also included in the fee are choices of moderate exercise and water exercise courses.

RISE, tailored for "learning in retirement," is in its 18th year. Individuals older than 55 are welcome to learn more about RISE, preview courses and register with a check for the fall term at the Aug. 21 information session.

Course brochures can be obtained at the RISE office in Room 237 in Sylvia Trottier Hall at Rivier University or by download from the website. They also are at local libraries and senior activity centers.
