DAR to feature Vietnam War commemoration on Sept. 19
The Anna Keyes Powers chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Hollis will be present at Old Home Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, to feature the Department of Defense 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War.
The chapter will provide material on the DAR locally and nationally, with information about DAR college and graduate school scholarships.
The chapter will participate in the parade, honoring Hilda Tolles at her 100th birthday. In addition, it will sell chances to win several items, including a gift certificate to the Bedford Village Inn.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a national service organization for women founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history and support education through outreach to veterans, schools and the public. With more than 180,000 members, the DAR is the country’s largest women’s service organization.
