Hollis man honored by YMCA

NASHUA – The YMCA of Greater Nashua announced its Volunteers of the Year for 2015: John Callahan, of Hollis, and Dorothy "Dot" McCaffrey, of Hudson.

"We thank you, John and Dot, for being part of our Y community," YMCA CEO Mike LaChance said. "You impact and enhance our cause on a daily basis."

Callahan has served as chairman of the board of directors and is currently chairman of the board of trustees. There are not many board committees on which Callahan hasn’t served. He was a big part of building the YMCA on Stadium Drive.

McCaffrey is passionate about the Livestrong at the Y program, a research-based physical activity and well-being initiative that helps people affected by cancer reach their holistic health goals.

First as a participant and now as a mentor, McCaffrey has a strong presence with all in the program. As a cancer survivor, she has mentored many Livestrong participants, and credits the program for making her recovery a positive part of her life.
