Mobile home grants available

LITTLETON – Better Homes Ahead, a division of Affordable Housing, Education & Development, is on a mission to provide the most energy-efficient, highest quality factory-built housing within reach of everyone.

Larry Berg, who heads BHA, wants to spread the word to people in New Hampshire about funding available to help people who own a 1976 or older mobile home to replace it with a new, energy-efficient home.

Better Homes Ahead has up to $18,000 in grants available per home for the replacement of 10 eligible homes. Eligible homebuyers must meet income requirements and be replacing a pre-1976 mobile home in New Hampshire they currently own.

Grant funds may be used to subsidize engineering, a rehab specialist, transportation, site work, leasehold improvements (foundations in resident-owned communities) and relocation costs. These funds will be provided as a securitized, zero-interest, all-payments-deferred loan that will be forgiven after the first five years. Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
