Tree to be dedicated to former school nurse
September 1981 marked the beginning of a 19-year relationship between the Hollis Brookline High School community and school nurse Jane Lavigne.
Through June 2000, "Nurse Jane" treated illnesses and injuries, celebrated accomplishments and successes, encouraged effort and progress, and supported students and staff through difficult times. She shared positive energy tirelessly and generously with her genuine and affectionate smile.
A group of colleagues has organized a tribute by planting a flowering cherry tree identified with an engraved granite marker at what was Nurse Jane’s high school, now Hollis Brookline Middle School. A dedication for the tree will be held with an informal gathering in front of the main building of the school at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29. All are invited.
For those who would like to contribute to the tree and the marker, send a check to Geraldine Haley, P.O. Box 146, Hollis, NH, 03049 by Friday, June 10. Any money collected over the cost of the marker and the tree will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
