Hollis DAR to honor students
HOLLIS – The Anna Keyes Powers Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will have its final meeting of the year, a potluck supper, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Josey McMillan’s home at 51 Worcester Road.
The chapter will host the winners of the American History Essay Contest, Wendy Lynch, grade 5, and Lauren Ingraham, grade 8. Lauren also won the state contest. High School Senior Good Citizen Cameron Jackson will also be honored.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a national service organization founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history and support better education for our nation’s children through outreach to veterans, schools and the public. With more than 180,000 members in chapters worldwide, the DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations.
