Hollis Scouts participate in Memorial Day service

HOLLIS – On Sunday, May 30, members of Hollis Boy Scou Troop 12 observed a Memorial Day service delivered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Hollis Town Common.

After opening remarks were made and the national anthem was played and sung by the Hollis Town Band, members of the community embraced a prayer of invocation by the Rev. Tanya Rasmussen, of the Hollis Congregational Church.

A guest speaker told the story of his time joining the Army as a young man during the Vietnamese war. This heartbreaking story gave everyone in the vicinity a sense of duty and pride to be an American.

Wreaths of honor were placed at four monuments around the churchyard and in the center triangle.
