Hollis Old Home Days festivities set for Sept. 16-17

HOLLIS – Old Home Days has plenty in store for people of all ages.

Old Home Days starts at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, on Nichols Field. Activities include midway games, rides and a teen dance.

OHD ends at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, with a fireworks show.

Friday’s activities include tethered hot air balloon rides, courtesy of Re/Max. The midway games will be available after 6 p.m. and a teen dance will kick off after 7.

On Saturday, there is more to see and do than ever. The Main Street parade and pet parade are back, and the day will culminate at 8 p.m. with the fireworks show.

In between the parade and fireworks is a full day of events. New this year will be an artisans show in the Lawrence Barn in a joint partnership between the OHD committee and Wild Salamander, new animal acts and several other surprises. Also back this year is cow patty bingo.

Ongoing demonstrations and events throughout the entire event include rug hooking, spinning, cross-stitch, wood turning and Hollis Art Society artists’ work on display. Also, bring your appetite, as we have more food vendors then before, and our chicken barbecue is back again this year.
