Group holding two events to benefit local police departments
The Brookline and Hollis Police Departments respond to thousands of emergency and non-emergency calls each year. Their responses to these calls showcase the unique skills of each officer, their importance as a public resource and how they serve as a mainstay of the community.
Although both police departments are funded through their respective town budgets, there are a number of items they are in need of, which have been allocated to "wish lists" so the departments can stay within their budgets. Friends of the Brookline and Hollis Police Departments, composed of residents of both communities, are getting together to raise money to cover those items that have been assigned to the "wish list." This is possible only through donations from members of our community like you.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, the FBHPD will be holding two appreciation and fundraising events:
? A Family Fun Day, with field day games, food and exhibitors, will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Richard Maghakian Memorial School on Milford Street in Brookline.
? A Comedy Dinner, with comedians, a silent auction and raffle, will be held 6-11 p.m. at Alpine Grove on South Depot Road in Hollis. Tickets are $35.
Here’s how you can help:
Donate a raffle or auction item (a gift certificate from your business, a gift basket or an item that advertises your business).
Make a monetary donation (for any donation of $250 or more your business’ name will be included on a banner of recognition, which will be displayed at both the Family Fun Day and the Comedy Dinner). Should you choose to make a monetary donation, please make your check out to the Hollis Police Benevolent Association and send it to 9 Silver Lake Road, Hollis, NH 03049.
All money raised from these events will go directly to the Brookline and Hollis police departments. By contributing, you will help the police departments immeasurably.
The Friends of the Brookline and Hollis police departments will be at the Hollis Transfer Station from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, selling tickets for the general public, as well as tickets the public can buy to donate to officers and police department staff members. The group also will be taking monetary donations.
