Group holding events to benefit police departments

The Friends of the Brookline and Hollis Police Departments, composed of residents of both communities, are getting together to raise money to cover items that have been assigned to the departments’ respective "wish lists."

This is possible only through donations from members of the community.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the FBHPD will be holding two appreciation and fundraising events:

? A Family Fun Day, with field day games, food and exhibitors, will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Richard Maghakian Memorial School on Milford Street in Brookline.

? A Comedy Dinner, with comedians, a silent auction and raffle, will be held 6-11 p.m. at Alpine Grove on South Depot Road in Hollis. Comedians scheduled to perform are Jack Lynch, founder of www.comicsfor
recovery.com; Karl Zahn, former co-host on "The Dennis Miller Radio Show"; and Joey Carroll, who has performed around the world, including the Los Angeles Improv

Here’s how you can help:

Donate a raffle or auction item (a gift certificate from your business, a gift basket or an item that markets/advertises your business). A 50-50 raffle is already approaching $500.

Make a monetary donation (for any donation of $250 or more your business’ name will be included on a banner of recognition, which will be displayed at both the Family Fun Day and the Comedy Dinner). Should you choose to make a monetary donation, please make your check out to the Hollis Police Benevolent Association and send it to 9 Silver Lake Road, Hollis, NH 03049.

All money raised from these events will go directly to the Brookline and Hollis police departments’ support associations.

Residents have already purchased enough tickets so members of the police departments can attend the Comedy Dinner.

Tickets for the general public to attend the Comedy Dinner are $35. For tickets or more information, contact Tina Carlson at 321-9268 or jorley02@aol.com.
