Colonial Garden Club celebrates 50th with President’s Tea

HOLLIS – The Colonial Garden Club of Hollis celebrated its 50th anniversary with a President’s Tea at the Lawrence Barn on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The theme of 50 was evident throughout the event with a display of 50 teapots, 50 plants, 50 member garden photographs, 50 quotes and a slide show that covered the 50 years of the club and its members.

Seventy members attended the event and enjoyed tea, sandwiches and desserts. Harpist Rebecca Swett provided music throughout the event.

Past presidents who attended were: Sandy Johnson, Susan Gorham, Cindi Owning, Nora Lewis, Anita Walker and Martha Smith. The traditional "Decorate A Hat Contest" was won by Eve Day, Cindy Arrasmith and Hsiu Norcutt.

The 50th Year Committee put in countless hours of planning in making the event a special day to remember. The committee chairewoman was Mary Lou Ward, and committee members were Lewis, Smith, Kimber Harmon, Priscella Levasseur and Linda Temperino.
