Hollis Luminary Stroll, Winter Holiday Concert set for Dec. 10

Every village is proud of their common and Hollis has one of the prettiest in the state. We take pride in our beautiful Monument Square with the white historic buildings surrounding it.

To celebrate the beauty of our square this holiday season, the Hollis Woman’s Club, Hollis Brookline Rotary, NorEaster Snowmobile Club, Hollis Agricultural Committee, Hollis Historical Society, Friends of the Hollis Social Library, Congregational Church of Hollis and the Girl Scouts are sponsoring the Hollis Holiday Luminary Stroll on Saturday, Dec. 10. Starting at 1 p.m. members of these organizations, along with HB Middle School Interact Club, HWC members and the Girls Scoutsm will be working with Hollis Agricultural Commitee arranging the luminary bags around our square. At 4 p.m., we will be lighting those thousands of candles! We need volunteers to help with both of these activities.

We are encouraging the homeowners who live around the town village to participate as well. When all the luminary bags are lit and the square is all aglow, at 4:30 p.m., Santa will make his travels through the center of town in a lit tractor parade sponsored by Brookdale Farm and the NorEaster Snowmobile Club. The parade will end at the Lawrence Barn on Depot Road where Santa will visit with his young friends and hear their wishes. Parents may take their own pictures of their children sitting on Santa’s lap for a small donation to help offset the cost of the afternoon. Hot cocoa and refreshments will be available for purchase by the Hollis Woman’s Club.

At 7 p.m., the Hollis Town Band will perform their annual Winter Holiday Concert at the Hollis Brookline High School Auditorium, admission is a donation of canned goods. The concert features a wide variety of works for band and chorus, including symphonic pieces and popular holiday classics. Included each year are a sing-along and a rousing rendition of Handel’s Messiah.

Come and enjoy the spirit of the season with us as we light up our country village. Bring your children to see Santa and sing along to the holiday music as the Hollis Town Band performs. It will be a magical and glowing evening!
