Hollis Community Concert to raise money for food baskets

Celebrate the season and the joy of giving back to the community by attending the Hollis Town Band and Choir’s Holiday Community Concert Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Admission is a nonperishable food item (please, no glass) for food baskets to be distributed in the local community. The concert is a cooperative effort with the Women’s Fellowship of the Congregational Church of Hollis who will be raising money for perishable basket items by selling delicious homemade baked goods. Cash donations are also welcome. Last year, over 50 food baskets were distributed to those in need. The group is hoping to top 60 baskets this year.

A tradition for over 20 years, this annual event features over 100 band members and singers performing many holiday classics. A highlight of the concert will be Hollis resident and perennial favorite, Richard Mills, narrating, "’Twas the Night Before Christmas." The audience will also be invited to join in for the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel’s "Messiah." The festivities will conclude with everyone singing a medley of favorite Christmas carols.

The performance will be held at the Hollis Brookline High School Auditorium, 24 Cavalier Court, Hollis. For more information call 883-2448 or visit www.hollistownband.org.
