Wild Salamander hosting solo exhibit by Hollis painter

HOLLIS – The Whitty Gallery at Wild Salamander Creative Arts Center in Hollis will feature the work of oil painter Stephen Previte in a solo exhibition – “Dueling Landscapes – Traditional vs. Industrial” – April 1-22. The exhibition will feature a large collection of nearly 70 paintings depicting traditional landscape subjects, along with new paintings on paper that will feature urban and industrial themes. Gallery owner KC Morgan says “We’re excited to host this show. Steve is well known locally, and this exhibition will allow the community to see a whole new direction in his work, alongside his more traditional landscapes.”

Stephen’s award winning paintings have been exhibited throughout New England and New York; including The Currier Museum of Art and Whistler House Museum of Art. He works with the medium of oil paint in a style that he describes as “Representational Impressionism.” The signature of his work is his attention to light and atmosphere.

Previte says he is “looking forward to sharing the contrasting terms of his subject matter and to seeing where their taste lies.” A gallery reception will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 7. Refreshments will be served. For more information about the exhibit please call 465-9453 or visit
